Multan is believed to be the oldest living city in South Asia. It is a prosperous city of bazaars, mosques, shrines and magnificently designed tombs. The walled city of Multan still exists, offering a peep into the style of living that persisted over many centuries. Multan is famous for its ancient crafts including hand embroidery, blue pottery and hand made textiles. Multan division produces over 30% of Pakistan’s total cotton, the largest amount of wheat and is known for its distinctive taste and production of mangoes. It is a fast growing industrial town hosting many modern industries including cotton ginning, textiles, edible oil, power generation, fertilizers, oil refining and distribution.
